SWS-HEATING: Development and Validation of an Innovative Solar Compact Selective-Water-Sorbent-Based Heating System, is a project funded by the European Union, related to the “LCE-07-2016-2017 – Developing the next generation technologies of renewable electricity and heating/cooling” call, starting on June 2018 with a duration of 48 Months and a budget of 4.99 M€. The consortium is composed of 16 partners from 7 different countries and is coordinated by the National Technical University of Athens.
The main aim of the project is the development of materials, components and management strategies of an advanced seasonal thermal energy storage driven by solar thermal collectors.
The developed technology will be validated in a transportable demo site at TRL5, which will be validated in two different climates: Germany and Sweden.
CNR ITAE role:
WP3 leader on the development of novel composite sorbent materials. It will support also the innovative components (i.e. adsorber, evaporator/condenser and solar thermal collectors) as well as the LCA and the demo installation.
