HOW TO GET THERE:
The best way to reach Messina is to arrive at Catania (Fontanarossa) airport and rent a car (1 h to Messina) or take the SAIS bus (almost every hour, 1.5 hours to get to Messina).
From Catania airport to Messina
-You can take the SAIS bus at the bus stop just 10 m outside Catania Airport (Aeroporto). When you exit from airport arrivals, turn on the right up to the exit door and you will see some kiosks on the right to buy the tickets. Please go to the SAIS kiosk to buy the ticket (price: 9.30 € single way). An updated time schedule for the SAIS bus is available here. Please take into account that the last bus from Catania airport to Messina is at 23:00. Please take into account also that there are several SAIS bus convering different Sicilian destinations; be sure to take the one to Messina. The bus terminal (arrival) in Messina is close to the railway station.
-If you arrive very late at night at the airport you can take a taxi to Messina at the fixed cost of 150 €.
-if you rent a car at the airport, you should take the highway to Messina following the street indications of “tangenziale” or “autostrada”. These are in green colour. A GPS navigator is highly recommended. You should reach Autostrada A18 and Messina as direction.
When you arrive to the railway station of Messina, two options are available to reach the hotels and the venue of the meeting:
- by bus (about 40 min): Bus station, Piazza della Repubblica (next to the railway station) take the line 1 (frequency 20 min) with direction Torre Faro
Villa Morgana Resort (40 stop) – Capo Peloro Hotel (44 stop) – Residence dei Margi (44 stop) – Parco Horcynus Orca (46 stop, bus terminal) and 15 min walk (1.3 km from the bus terminal) - by taxi (about 25 min): price 30 € during day and 35 € at night.
