The prestigious World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking, compiled annually by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and Scopus, recognizes the most influential scientists at the international level, selected from around 9 million active researchers worldwide. The list, updated with citation data up to 2024, considers both the scientific impact over the past year and throughout the entire career.
This year again, the Institute for Advanced Energy Technologies “Nicola Giordano” (CNR-ITAE) confirms a significant presence, with several researchers included in both the career-long ranking and the one updated to the last year.

In the ranking based on citations received during 2024, 7 ITAE researchers are listed: Antonino Salvatore Aricò (ITAE Director), Francesco Frusteri (Research Director), Vincenzo Baglio (Research Director), Gianluca Leonardi (Researcher), Vincenzo Antonucci (Research Director), Antonio Vita (Senior Researcher), Stefania Siracusano (Research Director).
The World’s Top 2% Scientists, curated by the research group led by Prof. John Ioannidis at Stanford University, classifies scholars into 22 disciplinary areas and 174 subfields, using standardized indicators such as citations, h-index, citations by authorship role, and a composite score (c-score).
